About the event
Throughout history, talismans have been worn for protection, luck, and remembrance.
Now, you can craft your own.
In this intimate, one-on-one workshop, you’ll learn the art of wax carving to design a one-of-a-kind ring rooted in a personal memory, symbol, or intention.
Perfect for complete beginners, this relaxed experience requires no prior skills—just a steady hand, good close-up vision, and an open mind.
Whether you arrive with a vision or need help finding inspiration, you'll be guided every step of the way.
Additional FAQ's about the workshop are below:
You don't necessarily have to make a ring. Pendant pieces and small objects are also possible.
You’re of course welcome to make a ring for someone else, however you would need to find out their size prior.
You will have the opportunity to make a second ring if you have time during the 3 hour window.
Rings are sent away to be cast and then will be finished by Briar, this can take up to 2.5 weeks depending on courier delays.
The workshop cost covers the tuition time only. You will be charged $8 per gram of silver of your finished piece - this covers the casting costs and my time to finish your ring. Bronze is $4 per gram. (Generally, most people spend an additional $70-$120 on their finished silver ring.)
Once the ring is finished, Briar will contact you with final price for payment before sending.
PLEASE NOTE:
Included with your workshop ticket purchase is $25 towards the casting cost of your ring, regardless of if you choose to cast in bronze or silver.
Additionally, a selection of small gems will be brought to the workshop by Briar, which are available to use for your design at no extra charge.
Afternoon tea is also included with ticket purchase.

Hosted and led by the incredible Briar Hardy-Hesson, an experienced, Wānaka based jewellery maker, specialising in one of a kind, colourful pieces that blend comfort and rustic aesthetic.
